Building Futures (BUFU) providing initial construction training to long term unemployed residents of the city linking them to a local labour scheme which finds employment for candidates on local major development. This is in partnership with the City Council and partners in Grande Synthe and Dunkirk.
Graduate and Apprenticeship Placement Service (GAPS) started in January 2012 and will assist the college be providing funding to pilot the city centre skills shop and Apprenticeship Training Association (ATA) which hire Apprentices and then services them out to SMEs and other local employers. The funding will also provide additional apprenticeship bursaries to encourage local employers to take on more apprentices and offer international placements for 20 local graduates with partners in Rotterdam and Picardie in northern France.
European Social Fund
The college works in partnership with colleges in the South East and via GFE South, a partnership of colleges in the region, to support long term unemployed people back into employment and low skilled employees to increase their skills base.
In the past we have also been funded to provide programmes for local people who are unemployed or at risk of being made redundant under the Skills Support for Unemployed and Skills Support for Redundancy projects.
