Acting and Drama Courses
Your route to the stage
Don't just dream about it... be part of it!
The three courses we offer combine to provide all the skills, development and qualifications necessary to progress to either Drama School or University. Our pass rates are excellent and City College has a superb and proven track record of its graduates moving onto Drama School.
Whatever stage you are currently at with your education or training, we offer a clear route towards University or Drama school.
Which course should I do?
Acting 1
You have:
- Three GCSEs grade D or BTEC Foundation Certificate in a related subject
- or related Level 2 qualification
- or related work experience
You should apply for:
What next?:
Successful completion of this course enables you to progress directly onto the BTEC National Award in Performing Arts Course (see Acting 2).
Acting 2
You have:
- Four GCSEs grade C or equivalent or BTEC First Diploma in a related subject
- or practical examinations in acting (e.g. LAMDA, Guildhall)
- or appropriate experience
You should apply for:
What next?:
This course is the equivalent of two A-levels and you can progress onto University. Extended study is available through the BTEC Certificate course in Performing Arts (see Acting 3).
Acting 3
You have:
- BTEC Award in a relevant subject or an A/S or A-Level in a related subject
- Students aged 18+ who can demonstrate significant prior experience and/or talent may gain direct entry

What next?:
You will now be in a position to apply for further training at University or a Drama School.
Drama School or University Acting Course
When you leave City College you will be in an excellent position to apply for further training at University or Drama school. We have an excellent track record that is above national average and we shall support you as you leave us to continue your further education or seek roles.
