Careers & Work Readiness
Our commitement to helping you doesn't end with your qualification - we will work with you towards your next goal, be it further education, higher ed or entering employment.
Our professionally qualified staff can help you with your career planning and the college intranet, 'Moodle', contains a comprehensive Careers & Work Readiness page full of careers information and advice. We also have a range of useful resources in the College library, including University and college prospectuses and careers reference books and leaflets.
To help you with planning for your future, careers advice can be made through the Student Centre on the First Floor of Pelham Tower.

What can we help you with?
Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)
- Impartial information, advice and guidance (IAG) to help you plan your next steps in learning or in work.
- A drop-in for careers information and advice.
- One-to-one advice for any student who requests it, (available via the Student Centre or by emailing cwr@ccb.ac.uk).
- Access to up-to-date careers and labour market information online via Moodle, and in the Learning Resource Centres.
- Access to jobs and volunteering opportunities
- Opportunities to develop your knowledge, understanding and experience of work.
- Support, alongside your course, to be able to identify and develop professional skills so that you will be ‘work-ready’ and employable.
- Aimhigher support for eligible students to help you progress in education and apply to University.
- Information and advice about applying for Higher Education through UCAS and about HE student finance.
Careers Education in tutorial, which will enable full-time students to:
- Relate the learning on your course to your plans for progression.
- Receive impartial information and advice about the options available to you.
- Be able to make decisions about your next steps.
- Know how you can plan and manage your progression through learning and work in the future.
- Identify your abilities and your skills for work.
- Learn about working life from employers.
What can you expect from us?
- Careers information and advice will be free from stereotypes and will be non-discriminatory. It will be accessible to all learners.
- We will provide opportunities for you to tell us your views about the service. We will respond and explain any changes made following student feedback.
- What do we expect from you?
- To treat our staff and other users of the service with respect.
- That you keep any 1-to-1 advice appointments or notify us as soon as possible so that the appointment can be offered to someone else.
- Online discussion forums, web-chats and questionnaires will be free of abusive comments and language likely to offend.
How can you tell us what you think?
- Student Services feedback forms are available in the LRC’s and Student Centre.
- You can constructively comment via the forums within the Careers moodle page.
- You can complete questionnaires to comment on advice you have received.
- You can complete questionnaires to comment on the careers education programme.
- The Student Council Committee will be consulted to obtain student views about careers education, information, advice and guidance.
