Fundraising for Kenya
In July 2010, twenty three City College students and staff flew to Kenya to take part in a project to build homes and basic infrastructure in one of the poorest areas, Nakuru. The following summer, an eighteen-strong team from City College comprising of Catering, Carpentry, Photography, Engineering and Media students returned to Nakuru to replace charcoal burners in a rundown shack with a fully functioning kitchen for school children.
Throughout 2010 and 2011 the Carpentry department, along with their friends and families, have raised a huge amount of funds so that students could go on these trip and make a real difference in Kenya.
Another trip to Nakuru is planned for Summer 2012 so the fundraising effort will soon begin again. Your support is greatly appreciated and will go a long way to provide the funds needed to make a difference to the children of Nakuru.
Carpentry Sledges
If snowfall this winter is anything like recent years, sledges are going to be much in demand!
City College’s carpentry department will once again be offering some very special, homemade sledges available at the bargain price of just £25 for the basic model!
There will be opportunities to buy a range of woodwork products such as bird boxes, bird tables, plant holders (various shapes and sizes), herbs garden boxes, occasional tables, Christmas decorations etc.
