Gaming, Animation, Web Design and Graphic Design Courses in Brighton

Digital Design Courses at City College Brighton and Hove

The Digital Arts area is a vibrant and dynamic section within the Department of Digital & Visual Arts. The department is able to offer a range of year long full time courses and 6-8 week short length courses across a wide range of digital design disciplines.

Industry level hardware and software within the Digital Arts Area allow students to create sophisticated high level 3D Models, games, interactive sites and digital graphics. In support of students' studies, the Digital Arts Area has also an array of Digital Video and stills cameras and computer drawing tablets. Gaming consoles and testing servers for research use are also available for students to develop concepts and ideas in the creation of interactive media products. Staff and students are also involved in using web conferencing facilities to further develop working links with industry specialists and Higher Education Universities.

Full Time Courses at present cross the boundaries between the BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 mainly in the interactive media and computer games design areas.

These courses are a year long and work normally as a progression route from the BTEC Level 2 Creative Media Production through to the Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma CMP and finally the BTEC Level 3 Diploma CMP.

Two of our Part-time courses are aimed at students who are able to give more time to their studies and wish to re-skill, up skill or develop new skills in Graphic Design or Web Design. Both of these courses carry a BTEC Certification which is recognised by industry.

The department is developing a range of courses that in the main can be started at entry level and or further course taken in which to develop higher levels of skill. We call this a roll on, roll off model where students can join at entry level, Introduction, or can enter at any further point at Intermediate or Advanced levels.

The shorter Part-time courses offer a range of skill development such as, Web Design (Adobe Dreamweaver), Image manipulation (Adobe Photoshop), or 3D modeling in 3D Studio Max. A full list for 2011-2012 can viewed at the bottom of the page.
