Digital Arts at City College is able to offer a range of Full Time courses for a variety of disciplines for the Creative Media Industries. Students’ have access to a full range of games consoles and interactive media software to develop their understanding of computer games and interactive media.

BTEC Level 2 Creative Media Production

This is a highly exciting course and is designed for students who have interests in interactive media and is ideal for anyone wanting to develop their skills in a variety of differing practices. This might include web design, image manipulation, sound design, or character animation etc. Whatever creative area of interest, this could the first stage in realising a career within the Creative Industries. It is an ideal preparation for the higher level courses in Games Development and Interactive Design that are on offer at City College.

BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma Creative Media Production

This BTEC L3 Subsidiary Diploma (Games Design) course is intended to introduce students to the processes of how computer games and interactive products are designed, developed and produced. It provides a practical approach in appreciating and understanding the technology and skills required to become part of a games development team and how the processes and products work. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of different games platforms and types of interactive products available. In introducing you to design approaches and industry standard software and techniques, it will enable you to develop your own ideas and the understanding of what goes into the making of a playable and exciting computer game.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Creative Media Production

This one-year L3 Extended Diploma course will extend your skills studied on the L3 Subsidiary Diploma with the focus of developing work for the Computer Games Industry. You will learn about how computer games are designed, developed and produced. Throughout the course you will develop practical skills using digital media design technology and gain a thorough understanding of the design and making process.
In exploring a range of design approaches, different games platforms and digital design software, you will be able to develop your own ideas and the understanding of what goes into the making of a playable and exciting computer game. Our games development courses aim to give students insight into as many facets of gaming as possible with an emphasis on the creative and artistic aspects along with a thorough grounding in the history of games design and its cultural importance.
