Living in Brighton and Hove

Enjoy studying by the sea

Brighton - the city by the sea

Brighton - the city by the sea

Studying with City College is not just about campus life. We are located in the heart of multicultural, vibrant, Brighton which brings culture, arts, nightlife and the opportunity to enjoy life in the ‘city by the sea’.

Eating Out

There are over 400 restaurants in the city to choose from – catering for every taste! Just outside of the main college campus is the North Laine area that has a multitude of independent cafes and restaurants to keep you fully fuelled. All your usual fast-food and supermarkets are just a short walk away.

Entertainment

Where do we start? Cinemas, music venues, carnivals, festivals – Brighton has it all. The Brighton Centre is a major tour venue for some of the largest pop acts, including Girls Aloud, the Kooks and Stereophonics.
The Brighton Festival in May is the largest in England and Madeira Drive is host to the world-famous beach parties hosted by Fatboy Slim.
Every October Brighton hosts the Paramount Comedy festival with fantastic main comedy circuit and fringe acts.

Culture

If culture is your thing then Brighton has it in abundance. There are museums, theatres and art galleries all around the town centre. During your lunch breaks you can relax in the grounds of The Pavilion – and if you have some spare time, enjoy its famous art collection. Plays fresh from the West End are put on in the local theatres. If you are feeling slightly more adventurous then you can go on a tour of the cities Victorian Sewers or the Haunted Brighton tour. Scary!

The Great Outdoors

Are you stuck on a student budget? Then not to worry, as there are a host of free activities right on your doorstep! The 11km beach is an attractive activity that costs nothing to swim, walk, run or ride across. City College is also very close to the famous and beautiful South Downs, allowing you to get involved in outdoor activities from rock climbing to gliding.

Sport

Whether playing or watching – there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy sport whilst you are here. We have student teams that compete in college leagues for sports such as football, whilst we also run all-inclusive clubs for all abilities in a number of sports.
Brighton is home to League 1 Football and County Cricket which can be enjoyed (or endured!), whilst the city is also home to Basketball, Volleyball and several swimming and athletics clubs.
