Would you like to learn the skills, discipline and knowledge required to equip you for a career in the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Prison Service, Army, Royal Navy, RAF or Marines?

The Public Services department is exciting, active and vibrant and will provide you with all the support and guidance you need to get you qualified and employed, or for you to succeed in your application to university.

We offer courses that range from Level 1 to Level 3, so no matter what stage you are at with your education, we offer a clear  progression route that will see you get to where you want to be. Depending on what level you are on, you can expect to study teamwork, leadership, citizenship, understanding diversity and discipline.

You will also enjoy the specialist units such as outdoor and adventurous expeditions, fitness training, expedition skills and water based activities.

Learning will be varied and creative with an emphasis on practical skills, teamwork and fitness. Assessment is via 100% coursework-based projects and there are no exams.

Visits will be made to public service organisations and guest speakers will be invited to talk about their public service experiences.

You will feel confident about applying to join the uniformed public services, such as the Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service, Army, Police and the Prison Service.

After successfully completing the BTEC National Certificate you may want to further your education by applying for a degree level course at university.
