City College Rugby Academy
The Rugby Development Academy (RDA) is an exciting one or two year programme designed to give aspiring young rugby players the opportunity to develop their rugby skills whilst continuing in full-time education.
The RDA provides students with the opportunity to train three times per week and play in competitive matches on a Wednesday afternoon at local, regional and national level. Students will receive specialist coaching from experienced and qualified professional coaches.
As part of the RDA programme students will receive specialist rugby coaching that will focus on improving micro-skills and positional skills. Students will also be given rugby-specific strength and conditioning programmes, individual player assessments and will regularly undertake video analysis of training and matches.
Alongside the rugby training students are expected to study on a BTEC Sport course at City College (Level 1 - 3 depending on entry grades). Students will also complete their Level 1 Rugby coaching qualification and an award in Community Sports Leadership.
Any student is welcome to apply for a place on the programme. It is preferred that students have rugby playing experience to county or district level or to a good club standard as a minimum.
