Web Design

Web Design BTEC Level 3

An ideal course if you are looking to enhance your career potential within the digital media design industry. It will provide you with a broad understanding and application of current web design software and practices. You will examine the complexities of designing and building websites. You will also gain experience of working with animation and other interactive design processes.

You will use most of the following software programmes:
• Photoshop
• Illustrator
• Sound Edit
• Flash
• Dreamweaver
The course is currently taught on Mac platforms, but the skills and practices are readily transferable to PC use.

Intro Adobe Dreamweaver

This is an exciting course looking at an introduction to an equally exciting area of digital design practice. The aim of the course is to provide learners with solid grounding to the web publishing package Macromedia Dreamweaver. Being delivered through demonstration, as well as through a series of guided practical exercises using the package, learners will be able to design, build, update and publish a multi-page static website whilst developing good web-design principles. Whether for personal development or for a simple practical application for your work life, this course will lead you towards producing websites and their deployment.

Intermediate Adobe Dreamweaver

This is again another exciting course being held at City College’s main Campus. This course will look at further developing skills in the area of digital design practice and Web Based Design. The aim of the course is to provide learners with an opportunity to develop further skills such as Site Optimisation, CSS development, along with helping to develop learners’ skills in the higher principles of visual and graphical design. The principle software will be Adobe Dreamweaver. Sessions will be delivered through demonstration, as well as through a series of guided practical exercises using the package; learners will be able to design, build, update and publish a multi-page dynamic website. Whether for personal use or for small business development, this course will aid you in creating sites that will help you to present yourself and or your work to a global audience. There may be opportunities to integrate other software package use in the development of your pages such as Adobe illustrator or Photoshop where time and experience allows.

Advanced Adobe Dreamweaver

The aim of the course is to provide the student with a more advanced set of skills in web design using the publishing package Macromedia Dreamweaver. This course follows on from the ‘Intro to Web Design’. Being delivered through demonstration, as well as through a series of guided practical exercises using the package, you will be able to integrate more advanced techniques in the design, build, and publishing of dynamic multi-page and content rich websites.
