Course aims:
This is an intermediate level Photoshop course that will allow you to take your basic Photoshop skills to a higher level.

Photoshop is the industry standard tool for digital designers and art-workers but is also perfect for anyone wishing to manipulate photos and images at home. You will learn how to use more advanced tools within Photoshop, producing and editing images of a high quality.

We will concentrate on some of the moderately complex areas of image manipulation, compositing and image remediation whilst also considering aspects of good professional practice within the Digital Imaging Industry.

So if you are looking to further develop your existing Photoshop skills and techniques in pure image design, image restoration or digital composition then this course will take you to the next level.

Course content:
On this course you will learn about:

Compositing tools & techniques at a more advanced level, Marques, Lasso’s, Masking, etc
Image manipulation at more advanced levels, colour manipulation, histograms, etc
Image restoration, eraser tools, clone tool etc.

Facilities for students:
You will be based at our City College Main Campus where we have extensive and excellent facilities for practical and theory work.

These include: state of the art Windows PC’s and Apple Macintosh’s with industry level software. Teaching and learning aids such as Smart Whiteboards, data projectors, personal City College email accounts, Virtual Learning Environment and personal online file storage space will compliment and aid student’s on the course.

Tutors:
Tutors assigned to this course will have experience in teaching a range of modelling software and many of them work in the digital media design industries.

Entry Requirements:
You must be very comfortable using computer based operating systems and be familiar with using a browser. You should have an awareness of using a digital camera and have intermediate digital image manipulation skills.

Progression and links:
Students undertaking this course will be able to produce work for a possible entry level in image manipulation and it may help to contribute towards a portfolio of evidence at interview for other Further Education courses.

Work generated from this course could be used to contribute to an existing portfolio of work used for job applications but would depend on the skill level of the student.
