Course aims:
This is an introductory level Photoshop course that will allow you to learn basic Photoshop skills.
Photoshop is the industry standard tool for digital designers and art-workers but is also perfect for anyone wishing to manipulate photos and images at home. You will learn how the basic image manipulation tools within Photoshop, starting to producing and editing images to a high quality.
The aim of the course is to provide you with a solid introduction to manipulating digital images within Adobe Photoshop. It is delivered through demonstration, as well as through a series of guided practical exercises using Photoshop.
You’ll learn to manipulate images and how to enhance their quality through processes such as colour management and layer composition, also you’ll learn about file types and output options for web and print at a basic level.

You will be based at our City College Main Campus where we have extensive and excellent facilities for practical and theory work.
These include: state of the art Windows PC’s and Apple Macintosh’s with industry level software. Teaching and learning aids such as Smart Whiteboards, data projectors, personal City College email accounts, Virtual Learning Environment and personal online file storage space will compliment and aid student’s on the course.
Tutors:
Tutors assigned to this course will have experience in teaching a range of modelling software and many of them work in the digital media design industries.

Entry Requirements:
You must be very comfortable using computer based operating systems and be familiar with using a browser. You should have an awareness of using a digital camera also.
Progression and links:
Students undertaking this course will be able to produce work for a possible entry level in image manipulation and it may help to contribute towards a portfolio of evidence at interview for other Further Education courses.
Work generated from this course could be used to contribute to an existing portfolio of work used for job applications but would depend on the skill level of the student.
