Learn how to use your machine for free-hand machine embroidery.
The most basic type of sewing machine can be used to create stunning embroideries to decorate your clothes, furnish your home or hang on your walls. Learn to 'draw' with your thread and create exciting patterns, motifs and textures, using free running and zig zag stitches, which can be used for decoration on garments, cushion covers, bags and purses, greetings cards, pictures or wall hangings. By developing basic skills, students will learn how to interpret and translate drawings and photographs into embroidery using appropriate fabric and threads. Students will be encouraged to combine techniques, including fabric painting and printing to create individual designs and instruction will be given on how to stretch and mount finished embroideries.
This course is suitable for both beginners and improvers. A materials and equipment list will be sent out prior to the course. If you wish to use a College sewing machine please let us know when you book your place as numbers are limited - there will be a one-off charge of £5 for use of a machine.
