Course aims:
This course will teach you the basic skills needed in garment construction. By developing new sewing and construction techniques you will learn how to produce good quality garments.

This course is also very useful to anyone wanting to attend Introductory Pattern Cutting course and have little experience in garment making.

All applicants must own a sewing machine and must be able to use a sewing machine.

Course topic: Art and Photography

Course content:
On this course you will learn the following sewing techniques;

Week 1: Seam finishes, how to sew a dart.
Week 2: Hem finishes
Week 3: Waistbands and facings (neck facing and combined facing)
Week 4: Zips (Centred Zip, lapped zip and concealed zip)
Week 5: How to attach a shirt collar and stand, how to attach a traditional shirt placket and shirt cuff)
Week 6: Pockets (lined patch pocket, in-seam pocket, self-welt pocket and jean pocket).
