Course content:
An exploration of the last 100 years of fashion. The course begins with the stylish and elegant Edwardian era recently brought to life in Downton Abbey.
Other topics include the innovative Inter-War years characterized by French designers like Chanel, Vionnet and Schiaparelli, the Post-War impact of Dior’s New Look, fifties and sixties styles so evocatively brought to life in Mad Men and sub-cultural styles from the Teddy Boys to Japanese street fashion.
The course is delivered using illustrated talks with items of authentic clothing when possible. Learner participation will be encouraged.
