Iconic style, directly following Arts and Crafts, in response to radical changes and technological advances. Its asymmetrical style - found in art, architecture, furniture, jewellery, ceramics, metalwork and glass - was distinctive, never seen before and nothing like it seen again. It lasted only a short period, late Victorian/ early Edwardian era.
Highly decorative, undulating, flowing forms, waves and famous ‘whiplash curve’, its organic structure was influenced by many styles, folklore, ancient and classical countries, plant forms, floral and leaf patterns, insects, long flowing tendrils of hair and entwined foliage. A visually stunning afternoon.
