Course content:
The faces, fashions, hairstyles and culture of the golden age of filmmaking. Cinema and film included elegant sets and flowing dresses and the Art Deco style reached its height of fashion in the Hollywood musical. Early silent films were magical with a specific style of acting and 1930s cinema introduced its audiences to exciting talkies and sumptuous musicals. We look at rare archive footage of the 1920s and 1930s, including iconic Alfred Hitchcock. There is so much more to discover in films than the main picture. Around the storyline there is a mass of social and cultural information.
A wonderfully nostalgic afternoon.
