Course content:
A 30 week course providing an introduction to the vocabulary and grammar of British Sign Language.
Your study will include the following topic areas: meeting people, exchanging personal information, describing objects and locations, getting round, people and their lives, shopping, food and drink, number and quantity, calendar, feelings and weather.
This course is designed to enable students with little or no experience of BSL to acquire basic ability to communicate with Deaf people using sign language and provide information about Deaf people, the Deaf community and Deaf culture.
There is no examination with this course but there will be an opportunity to undergo internal assessment to be awarded a City College Certificate.
