An artistic sketchbook or journal is a great way to keep track of your thoughts and ideas whilst you work, and can also be a great addition to a portfolio if you’re thinking of taking a higher level art course.
Using drawing, painting, photographs and collage to typographic and handwritten words, we will explore imaginative ways of recording your creative life as it develops. We’ll be covering a range of hands on techniques for sketching, illustrating and text. You will be learning and developing skills in the use of a variety of media and exploring strategies and inspiring ideas for visualizing daily visual experience.
There will also be the chance to discover the work of other artists who have kept personal sketchbooks, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Charlotte Salomon, Frida Kahlo, Dan Eldon.
Although the course can work well as a support for other art coursework, this informal approach to producing exciting visual imagery is suitable for artists and beginners.
Guidance will be given throughout the course alongside demonstrations.
Please bring a hardback sketchbook to start.
Fees for your course: £88
