Course aims:
This course will enable you to focus on working from a life model in order to produce paintings of the head.
Initially we will consider depicting the head through drawing and subsequently introducing colour mixing and the application of painting techniques in response to the form and tone of the head.
By the end of the course it is hoped that you will have produced a range of convincing portraits demonstrating the particularities and characteristics of the model.
The course is suitable for beginners and non-beginners, it is taught in Art and Design studios by highly qualified and enthusiastic teaching staff.
By the end of the course you will have had a good introduction to the Visual Arts and it could help you in preparation for entry onto one of our higher-level Part-time or Full-time Art & Design courses.

Tutors within the Centre for the Visual Arts are highly qualified, enthusiastic & experienced. They provide a wide range of professional expertise and skills. Many are also practising Artists/Designers and well as Educators.
Assessment: Throughout the course students will receive verbal feedback about their work. At the end of the course a selection of artwork will be displayed within the department

Although suitable for those who wish to study art purely for interest and pleasure, this course can act as a stepping stone for students wishing to progress onto higher level Part time or Full time Further Education courses.
