Want to know how to make clothes from your own designs? This could be the course for you!
Each term we will look at how to create patterns for a different garment, beginning in the autumn term with skirts. Learn how to draft a basic pattern from your own measurements and how this can be adapted to different styles, including your own designs. Knowledge of basic dressmaking is essential but no previous knowledge of pattern cutting is necessary.
There will be opportunities for the development of dressmaking skills throughout the course including techniques for sewing darts, seams, hems, zips and pockets.
If you wish to use a college sewing machine there will be a charge of £5 per term. Dot and cross paper (40p per sheet) and manila card (£1.00 per metre) can be bought from the tutor.
