Course aims:
Brighton has a range of iconic sights for you to photograph such as The Piers, The Laines and The Pavillion. Can you find new and interesting ways to capture them in a still image, or perhaps there are some areas of the City more personal to you that you could do a photographic study on?
On this friendly and sociable photography course you’ll get the chance to develop a series of unique photographs of Brighton.
Course topic: Art and Photography
Course content:
Draw on a tradition of photographing vibrant seaside resorts developing your own style and ideas. Pick up a few new skills along the way including: conceptual ideas development, team work as well as making the most of your camera.
All camera types and user levels welcome (including film). Bring your USB download cable and camera manual.
Facilities included editing suite with Photoshop and scanner as well as darkrooms for B/W developing. Participants must have their own cameras, film and/or memory cards.
Part of this course will be carried out on locations and participants are encouraged to showcase their work on an image sharing website at the end.

Assessment: During the course students will receive ongoing feedback through group and 1-1 tutoring about their work completed during the 3 weeks. They will be encouraged to present their work online.

Producing a coherent body of work will enable the student to showcase it to Picture editors or send in to competitions.
Progression and links:
Students undertaking this course will produce a body of work that could contribute towards a portfolio of evidence for application to other Further Education courses.
