Apprenticeship Success

Sussex Apprentice of the Year award success two years running for CCBH

City College Brighton and Hove’s Apprenticeship Team have celebrated success in the FE Sussex Spring Awards for the last two years, with City College apprentice Ross Jennings winning the Sussex Apprentice of the Year award in 2016 and College apprentices winning both winner (Bruce Daughtree) and runner-up (Joanne Williams) awards in 2015. In this prestigious ceremony, hosted at the Brighton Hilton Metropole, major players in the training and development world in Sussex and beyond join together to celebrate the best and brightest achievements in training, development and lifelong learning.

“The City College Apprenticeship Team have been very supportive and gave me the opportunity to better my life, career and future at a time when I most needed it, so I cannot thank them enough for that.  I would not have had the opportunity to win the Sussex Apprentice of the Year award or be where I am today if it wasn’t for them."

Accountancy Apprentice Ross Jennings - Winner, Sussex Apprentice of the Year 2016

"My City College assessor always ensured that I was fully supported at all times but also made the sessions enjoyable. She gave me praise when I needed it and motivated me when I was feeling down. She was patient and really helped me to achieve."

Health & Social Care Apprentice Bruce Daughtree - Winner, Sussex Apprentice of the Year 2015

"Without my City College assessor's consistent encouragement, enthusiasm and regular complimentary feedback, I don't think I would have gone on to achieve what I did. I don't think I could have been graced with a more supportive assessor."

Business Administration Apprentice Joanne Williams - Runner-up, Sussex Apprentice of the Year 2015

Apprenticeship Case Studies

Rachel Maddison - Procurement Adviser, Brighton & Hove City Council

“I would definitely recommend all young people to consider an Apprenticeship, as it is not only a way to start a career by actually working full-time, but a great way to gain qualifications and learn in a more realistic, practical environment.”

Brandon Newman - Plumbing Apprentice, Bishop's Property Services

“As a trade, plumbing is challenging, fulfilling and provides opportunities to work all over the world. My Apprenticeship has enabled me to gain practical and customer service skills and become fully qualified to do a job that I love.”
