Apprenticeship FAQs

How do I apply?

City College advertises vacancies and an apprenticeship matching service via this link:

If further support is required, please contact us on 01273 667770.

What happens after the application?

Applicants already in employment will be interviewed with the employer at the employer’s premises. Applicants without employers will be interviewed and assessed for suitability. Then we will endeavour to find a suitable employer who will subsequently wish to conduct an interview.

How and where does the training take place?

Several Apprenticeship Frameworks are available for delivery entirely in the workplace. This means the apprentice does not need to attend college, and is assessed directly in their workplace, through flexible delivery methods. Other Apprenticeship frameworks, mainly Construction, Engineering, AAT and Professional Cookery are delivered in the form of day release, block release or twilight classes and workshops held at our or the employer's premises. Day release - 1 day per week at our premises during term time.

When can a training programme be started?

At any time during the year except construction, AAT, Professional Cookery based qualifications usually start at the beginning of each academic year in September.

What help is there in finding a job?

Support and guidance is offered in seeking employment. Workshops are offered including CV writing, interview techniques and letter writing. We work with a number of employers and can support applicants in matching candidates to potential employers.
