Art & Design Courses in Brighton

Ofsted Outstanding Art & Design course in the heart of Brighton

City College Brighton and Hove is the place to study if you are interested in a career in the creative industries. The College's department of Visual Arts, graded Outstanding by Ofsted, is a vibrant, creative hub based in the heart of the North Laine area of Brighton.

There are opportunities to explore a wide range of specialist areas such as fashion, textiles, illustration, three dimensional design, graphic design, printmaking and fine art.

Through the rich and diverse assignments you can expect to gain a broad experience in art and design. You will be set a range of projects that will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone, these may run for one day, a week, or a number of weeks. Projects are often vocationally focused and incorporate links to industry. This is complimented by trips to exhibitions and museums in order to support and enhance your studies.

Throughout the year the department hosts a range of collaborative events such as exhibitions and live fashion shows. As well as promoting a creative environment in which to work, there is an academic underpinning to all the courses that will help you develop the skills you will need for employment. There is a structured tutorial programme that supports you, and helps your transition into college and onto university or into the workplace, which includes regular Progress Reviews with your tutors.

There is regular contact with parents or carers for students under 18, and consultation and feedback is welcomed and valued.
