The UK construction industry is constantly changing and developing the way in which it meets the challenges of creating the built environment - and that’s where it needs you!
Employers and the government require young people who can develop the skills required to design, create and build homes, schools, libraries and hospitals for future generations.
You will join City College studying for the CAA Diploma Level 1 and then quite naturally progress in years 2 and 3 onto the NVQ Level 2 and NVQ Level 3. After the first year you can decide if you want to qualify specialising in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery.
The skills you will develop on our courses, depending on which route you take, include progression of your knowledge of quantities and construction technology, carrying out first and second fixing, structural carcassing, maintenance, the principles of CAD and the operation of wood working machinery.
These are the real-world skills you will require to work within the industry. Our specialist facilities at City College are excellent. We have life-size, realistic training environments, such as a scaffolding rig, workshops and large working areas.
Our team all have vast industry experience as well as many years of teaching, which has maintained our high standards, excellent pass rates and allowed us to produce graduates who bring a high level of technical skill and confidence into the industry.
