Course aims:

Travel and Tourism is one of the most exciting and vibrant industries in the world. You could be helping someone find their dream holiday, travelling the world as a flight attendant, helping people party in sunny locations as a holiday rep, or progressing through the ranks as a top manager.

Our courses, taught by staff with many years experience working in the industry, also equip you with the skills and confidence to pursue a career
in many other fields.

Studying with us is fun - we go on study trips around the world, from New York to London, and practice using cabin simulators and our real-world travel bureau which sells holidays and flights to staff, students and the general public.

If you are training as cabin crew and air operations, you will wear professional uniform during your time with us.

Please note that if you are 18 or over by Easter 2012 we would advise you to take the Intensive Cabin Crew course which finishes at Easter.

Course content:
This course includes opportunities for you to develop your English and Maths Functional Skills

You are expected to complete these Functional Skills qualifications as part of your course.

Units of study include:

Facilities for students:
Some assessment will take place a major airline mock cabin at Gatwick airport in the form of role plays.
We also have aircraft seats, trolleys and equipment that are used regularly.

You will be able to gain real world experience in our travel bureau, City Travel, serving holidays and trips to staff, students and members of the public.

Tutors:
All your lecturers have travel experience including cabin crew, resort reps and airport check-in. We have excellent links with major tour operators and award winning airlines.

Assessment: The course is assessed by internal and external bodies with formal progress tests and assignments taken throughout the course and continuous feedback on your progress.

Assessment will be a combination of exams, written work and role plays

Entry Requirements:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades E or better or an equivalent level 1 qualification (eg BTEC or City & Guilds).

Interview for entry: Interview required

Free Study and Financial Support

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.

Further information: You will be attending visits to various Travel & Tourism destinations and facilities. These visits are a crucial part of the course and as such are compulsory. A European residential visit is planned. (Travel fund of approximately £350 tbc).
