Course aims:
Studying Beauty Therapy at City College is fun, exciting and will leave you with the skills, confidence and most importantly, the experience, to progress into employment or further your skills through study.

The Beauty Therapy Level 2 course will provide you with the skills and confidence to be able to go for jobs in variety of different areas, such as salons, hotels, health spas, cruise liners and department stores.

You'll develop a foundation of Beauty Therapy skills in areas such as facials, eye treatments, waxing, manicure, pedicure and make-up, as well as the principles of health and safety and reception duties.

Course content:
On this course you will study a range of different areas, allowing you to build up a deep knowledge of many beauty techniques.

Entry Requirements:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades E or better or an equivalent level 1 qualification (eg BTEC or City & Guilds).

Preferably Grade D English and Science (due to the Anatomy and Physiology element), good attendance and good school reference.

Interview for entry: Interview required

Progression and links:
Following successful completion of this course, you may wish to further develop your skills by enrolling on the Level 3 Beauty Therapy, Holistic Therapy courses and Nail Techniques.

This qualification enables the therapist to work in industry as a therapist, a manager or clinic owner, in a hotel or spa.

Work experience opportunities:
Work experience is "desirable and highly recommended"

Free Study and Financial Support

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
