Course aims:
This Level 3 business course is designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. Its aim is to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for employment.
Business courses at City College will help you to gain a broad understanding of business and develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to work in commerce today.
A business qualification can lead to literally hundreds of career options, and our Level 3 Business Plus course offers a unique level of qualification that you do not get at other colleges across Sussex, giving you extra qualifications and experience that will give you the edge when applying for jobs or University.
Our courses run from Level 1 right through to Level 3, so no matter what stage youre currently at with your education or training, you can expect to gain skills and the confidence to progress with us. What you will study will depend on what level you are at, but you can expect to learn how to start work in business, retail and administration, explore business purposes, communications, marketing, accounting, business ethics and event/project management.
Our Business department is one of the most dynamic and exciting areas at the College, using trips, work placements, practical experience and industry talks as the basis of our training programmes. Last year, students in Level 3 travelled to EuroDisney for a conference and workshop. They had the opportunity to talk to Disney Senior Executives, getting valuable advice and seeing how the top rides in Europe were marketed.

Facilities for students:
As well as access to computer facilities, we have a live Contact Centre within the college where students work on real projects, or can act out role play.
Tutors:
All tutors come from industry, with a variety of specialisms including Advertising, Marketing, Event Management and Human Resources.
Assessment: All BTEC units are internally assessed, and graded by the lecturers. Assessments will take the form of presentations, group work, written work and projects.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or better or an equivalent level 2 qualification (eg BTEC or City & Guilds).

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.

There is a European trip in the first year at a cost of £300, and for those students going on to the level 3 Diploma, there is a trip to New York at a cost of £600. Both trips are a mandatory , and are linked to unit assessments.
