Course aims:
Business courses at City College will help you to gain a broad understanding of enterprise and develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to work in commerce today.

Our Business department is one of the most dynamic and exciting areas at the College, using trips, work placements, practical experience and industry talks as the basis of our training programmes.

Our Level 1 and 2 students also benefit from a trip to London where we get access to top level businesses and how they work.

Our courses are fun but everything backs up the knowledge you gain in the classroom!

Course content:
On this course you will study:

Facilities for students:
As well as the use of computer rooms, there is a live Contact Centre at City College, where students have the opportunity to work on live projects.

Tutors:
All tutors come from the world of Business and there specialities range from Advertising and Marketing to Event Management.

Assessment: Students will be required to complete internally assessed assignments, ranging from presentations, work sheets to written assessments.

UCAS Tariff: Level 2

Awarding Body: Edexcel

Entry Requirements:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades E or better or an equivalent level 1 qualification (eg BTEC or City & Guilds).

Pre-entry preparation:
Read newspapers regularly to keep up to date with news and events in the business world.

Progression and links:
After completing the course successfully, there is the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Business qualification to progress to, as well as other courses within the college.

This qualification has been developed to provide the knowledge, understanding, and skills necessary to prepare learners for employment.

Work experience opportunities:
One week to be taken in the second semester.

Below are the fees for this course.

Free Study and Financial Support

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
