Course aims:
Are you interested in a career working in the childcare industry or with children aged 0-7 years ?
This course is for you if you wish to work with children in a supervised capacity, in a Nursery/Creche or as a Mother Help.
This is the stage on the Childcare/Care career ladder once you have completed this course you may enter the world of working as a Nursery Assistant.
This course gives you the range of skills needed in the childcare industry, providing you with both the practical experience and the knowledge needed to back up these skills.
Course content:
This course is made up of seven units of study, these all need to be completed and passed in order to achieve.
You will study subjects in the class room such as:
Facilities for students:
You will be placed in Childcare setting, where they will have up to 2 days a week contact with children, in order to develop there skills.
Tutors:
Your course is staffed with Early Years professionals who have worked in the sector and have a vast amount of experience.
Assessment: Units are assessed using an assignment or exam, for the assignment you are graded A* to D
Awarding Body: CACHE
Entry Requirements:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades E or better or an equivalent level 1 qualification (eg BTEC or City & Guilds).
Interview for entry: Interview required
Progression and links:
You may enter employment into the nursery industry as an assistant nursery nurse after this course and study a level three programme while at work.
Or if you pass all your assignments you may progress on to a level three pragramme and develop your skills to an advanced level.
Work experience opportunities:
Two days a week or 6 contact hours each.

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
