Course aims:
Have you always wanted to work with children? Do you find yourself developing a good rapport with young people? Would you like a career where you can make a real difference to a child’s development? As more primary carers are returning to work and the government continues to offer schemes such as free nursery sessions for three year olds, there is a real need for well-qualified and experienced childcarers.
This course is for those learners who have a real interest in Childcare and working with Children. The Foundation Award will give you the foundations to equip you to progress to the level two if you pass with a Merit, or even enter the world of work as a Nursery Trainee.

Your course is staffed with Early Years professionals who have worked in the sector and have a vast amount of experience.
Assessment: Each unit is assessed using an assignment, for the assignment you are graded Pass, Merit and Distinction.

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade G or better or an equivalent Entry level qualification (eg BTEC, City & Guilds, NOCN).

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
