Course aims:
Would you like to begin a career in Engineering or as an Electrician? This NVQ Level 1 is your first step on this path.
There are an estimated 800,000 engineers employed in the UK and the engineering manufacturing industry employs 1.7 million people in total, whilst the Electrical industry itself is huge and still growing. Now is the perfect time to make sure you are skilled and trained in these industries.
This course aims to give you that first knowledge in electrical and engineering processes so you are then well prepared for the various Level 2 courses that are on offer in the Engineering and Electrical department.

Our Engineering department benefits from some of the best facilities in the region. You will work with machinery and equipment that is used in the professional world and will leave you well prepared for when you begin employment.
Assessment: The course is approximately two-thirds practical and one-third theory.

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade G or better or an equivalent Entry level qualification (eg BTEC, City & Guilds, NOCN).

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
