Course aims:
This qualification is the 2nd year of a 2 year Extended Diploma which will give you the opportunity to gain the qualifications, skills and experience needed to progress a career in the Film and TV industry.
A practical and intensive introduction to the skills, knowledge and understanding required to work in the film, video and TV industries.
You will gain extensive experience of using professional digital video cameras and editing software. Through realistic, industry related projects you will learn how to create a range of digital film, video and animation from first ideas through to finished product.
Through a mixture of practical lessons and vocational projects you will have the opportunity to develop your creative filmmaking skills. You will be taught using professional standard equipment including Sony Z1 cameras and Mac editing suites running Final Cut Pro. You will also be encouraged to increase your academic skills in order to access a full range of progression opportunities.
This course provides a stand alone, intensive 1 year BTEC National Certificate for students with extensive prior knowledge of Filmmaking or an existing BTEC National Award or A Levels in a related subject. It also provides a 2nd year for graduates of the Digital Filmmaking & Animation BTEC National Award, allowing them to convert their qualification to a full BTEC National Diploma.
Each year there will be a few places available to learners who already have Level 3 qualifications (A Levels or BTEC Level 3) who wish to gain practical experience in Filmmaking and/or assistance in making applications to vocational degrees. These students will gain a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma.

Assessment: All assessment is through professionally relevant assignments. These are primarily practical units with supporting written work and documentation.

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
