Course aims:
In the hospitality industry you'll need strong management and leadership skills to control the fast moving and exciting environment of a restaurant.
This course allows you the opportunity to develop these management skills through the management of level 1 and 2 students in our training restaurant 'The Gallery'.
Whilst studying and working in the restaurant you will acquire all the skills needed to move on to a management position in the hospitality industry when you leave.

Our Catering department has excellent facilities, including professional kitchens with modern facilities. The Gallery – our very own restaurant is Brighton’s closely guarded secrets supervised by Chef proprietors that lecture on cooking programmes.

Tutors:
Our lecturers are very experienced teachers who have many years of industry experience in various catering establishments and business.
We also have guest speakers who come in to teach and in the past these have included chefs from local business and the world famous Gordon Ramsey.
Assessment: Evidence gathering.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or better or an equivalent level 2 qualification (eg BTEC or City & Guilds).
Level 2 in food service essential.
Interview for entry: Interview required
Progression and links:
After successfully completing this course you can apply for the Foundation Degree in Hospitality & Event Management at City College, or one of the many other degree level programs around the country.
Alternatively, you will have the skills and confidence to progress onto a supervisory role in the workplace.

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
