Course aims:
This intensive one year course is for students who wish to become IT System Support Professionals. It has been designed closely with industry experts to ensure it delivers the latest skills.

City College’s Computing department specialises in delivering applied Computing courses. We pride ourselves in keeping up to date and our courses provide a sound theoretical and applied perspective to modern computing and IT topics.

Emphasis is placed on hands on experience in the installation and configuration of software and hardware and developing programming skills.

This course also aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop the personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

In addition to the college facilities provided for all students, students on this course will have access to specialist networking and computing facilities.

Assessment: You will be assessed using a variety of methods including report writing, practical exercises, presentations delivered to your group and short tests.

Entry Requirements:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades E or better or an equivalent level 1 qualification (eg BTEC or City & Guilds).

Interview for entry: Interview required

Progression and links:
After successfully completing this course, you may wish to progress your skills and knowledge by moving onto the BTEC Advanced qualification.

Alternatively, you can enter the IT industry at a junior level.

Free Study and Financial Support

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
