Course aims:
If you love sport and want to develop your skills and knowledge in order to pursue a career in the sports and leisure industry, then these courses are for you. Based at City College East campus, we are now a major provider of sports courses in the South-East.
The sport and leisure sector is an exciting and expanding industry that offers a diverse range of opportunities in Further/ Higher education, training and employment. At City College we aim to provide a range of sports courses that can start you on the path to a successful career in sport.
The course is aimed at students interested in a career in the sport and leisure industry, and will be a stepping stone onto Level 2 and 3 qualifications.

Based at City College East campus, we are now a major provider of sports courses in the South-East.
Our students benefit from fantastic outdoor and indoor facilities including full-size, all weather and grass pitches, an indoor sports hall, dance studio and gym.
Assessment: Assessment is through completion of a series of practical and coursework based assignment.

5 GCSE's grade G or an Entry Level qualification or suitability at interview.

Progression and links:
After successfully completing this course you will have the skills and confidence to proceed onto one of the Level 2 courses on offer at City College.
Alternatively, you can seek paid or voluntary employment coaching or in a junior position within the industry.
Work experience opportunities:
Students are expected to volunteer at the Brighton Marathon and other community events.

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
