Course aims:
This is a unique two year programme designed for young boxers to train and develop their boxing skills whilst continuing in full-time education at the same time.

The AASE Boxing Scheme will be comprised of between 10-20 of the best and the most promising boxers from the Southern region. These boxers will be studying a level 3 NVQ Advanced Apprenticeship in Sports Excellence for Boxing and will be ABA recognised.

Alongside the boxing, students will study a core BTEC Sport qualification (at Level 1-3 depending on entry criteria)

Our sports facilities are amongst the best in the region and include:

Gymnasium - including boxing ring, bags, resistance machines, C.V machines, Core & Flexibility room, Conference room, cafeteria. (gym is free of charge out of learning hours)

Tutors:
Adam Haniver – Head Coach

Adam is a level 2 coach who also currently coaches for Hailsham ABC and the University of Brighton Boxing Team. He has coached for 13 years and brings a sports science degree to the role. Adam has a wide range of knowledge across the NVQ criteria coupled with a long amateur boxing career and coaching experience.

Assessment: Methods of assessment include:

Awarding Body: 1st4Sport

Entry Requirements:
This can only be taken alongside the Sports Level 2 Diploma.
You must be a member of an ABA affiliated boxing gym and have experience of boxing.

Interview for entry: Interview required

Progression and links:
During this programme you will receive a high level of coaching that could propel your amateur career onto the next level.

You will also receive a BTEC Diploma in Sport, which depending on the level you have achieved could lead into further study at College or University, or a career in the sports industry.

You will also achieve a coaching qualification in boxing, which could lead to voluntary or paid employment.

Free Study and Financial Support

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
