If you love sport and want to develop your skills and knowledge in order to pursue a career in the sports and leisure industry, then these courses are for you. Based at City College East campus, we are now a major provider of sports courses in the South-East.
The sport and leisure sector is an exciting and expanding industry that offers a diverse range of opportunities in Further/ Higher education, training and employment. At City College we aim to provide a range of sports courses that can start you on the path to a successful career in sport.
Studying sport at City College will give you the chance to learn in a practical environment and will prepare you for further education or employment.
The BTEC Extended is a vocational course which combines theory and practical methods of learning in a range of different units, including The Body in Sport, Training and Fitness, Sports Coaching, Sports Nutrition, Sports Psychology and Exercise, Health & Lifestyle. The course is assessed by work produced throughout the year by the students, made up of a mixture of written and practical assignments. The Extended Diploma qualification is equivalent to 3 A-Levels.
This is a two year course - after the first year you will be working towards the Subsidary Diploma, which is equivalent to one diploma.
Alongside this course, students may study for a range of qualifications including coaching certificates, First Aid at Work, NCFE Certificate in Sports Coaching and Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification.

Our students benefit from fantastic outdoor and indoor facilities including full-size, all weather and grass pitches, an indoor sports hall, dance studio and gym.

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
