Course aims:
The Netball Development Academy can only be studied alongside a full time core BTEC programme. The course is a unique programme that has been designed to combine high-quality Netball coaching with the opportunity to gain qualifications in sport, coaching and key skills. This combined program is the ideal way to ensure that if your sporting dream isnít realised, you will have the qualifications, skills and confidence to pursue a career in the sports industry.

You'll receive specialist coaching 2-3 times per week and have the opportunity to represent the college on a Wednesday afternoon in the Sussex Netball Development League.

We have extensive facilities for you including full-sized astro-turf pitches, full-sized grass pitches, indoor sports hall and gymnasium.

The primary motive of this academy is to encourage you to continue with your desire to play Netball at the highest level, but to also give you the opportunity to gain relevant and high level qualifications that will allow you to continue working in the sports arena alongside your competitive commitments.

Entry Requirements:
This course requires you to already be playing at a high level of netball, you must also have an appropriate fitness level due to the demands of the coaching and level of competition.

Interview for entry: Interview required

Progression and links:
Depending on your entry level of your BTEC you will have the chance to move directly into the sporting world either as an athlete or in a coaching capacity.

If you are studying a Level 3 course you could decide to continue on to University to further your qualifications and skills on a Higher Education course.

Work experience opportunities:
You'll have the opportunity to volunteer with local netball clubs.

Free Study and Financial Support

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2013. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
