Course aims:
This qualification is the 1st year of a 2 year Level 3 Diploma which will give you the opportunity to gain the qualifications, skills and experience needed to progress a career in Dance.
The Street Jazz Dance course is an intensive, practical course that gives you access to leading practitioners in this exciting area of Dance. The practical emphasis of the course will give you the opportunity to develop your dance skills,creativity and physical fitness.
By the end of the 1st year, you’ll have experienced a wide range of modern, urban styles and have gained a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance).

Course content:
The majority of the course will be delivered through practical dance workshops with leading dance practitioners. Units covered are:
As well as the major public performances there will be many opportunities to perform throughout the year.
Facilities for students:
A fully kitted out dance studio, great music and well connected dance teachers.
Assessment: All Units are assessed through practical assignments that lead to public performance. These assignments will also contain written coursework that underpins the practical.

Entry Requirements:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or better or an equivalent level 2 qualification (eg BTEC or City & Guilds).
Interview for entry: Interview required
Progression and links:
Most learners will progress on to Street Jazz Dance BTEC Level 3 Diploma. The Award is the equivalent of 1 A-level and you can use it to help you progress onto University.
You will develop the skills necessary to audition at Dance School.
This Course emphasises practical dance skills as sort after by the industry.

Free Study and Financial Support
All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
