Course aims:
This is a supported Level 1 course for students aged 16-19 who need to gain a qualification to progress to a specific Level 1 or 2 course.

Students on this course might have moderate learning or behavioural difficulties, but would be expected to have good attendance, cope within the college environment and comply with general college rules of behaviour.

You will need to have good literacy skills and have gained an E3 qualification or equivalent.

Students on this course study a variety of assessed subjects designed to improve confidence, build academic skills and develop their self management skills.

Assessment: All assessments are modular and take place throughout the year. Assessed work is externally verified.

Progression and links:
Should you be successful in this course you may wish to move onto one of the many Level 1 or 2 courses on offer in the other departments at City College.

This award is a nationally recognised qualification and vocational experience could lead to employment.

Free Study and Financial Support

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2012. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.
