Whether you are a student fresh from school or college, or someone with some business experience who wants to develop their understanding of business theories and how they can be linked to business practice, or an entrepreneur interested in knowing how to make your business ideas work more successfully in the real world, then this course at City College Brighton and Hove is for you.

This business course will meet your needs, whether you a student who is continuing your education and wanting a clear route into either a good job, or gaining a BA (Hons) degree, or a mature student who wants to return and gain that educational qualification that was missed out on earlier.
The Foundation Degree is a nationally recognised qualification that will improve your CV when looking for your first job, your next job, or the promotion that you need the confidence and qualification to apply for.

Course content:
Students will study eleven core modules that also include the development of transferable skills e.g. time management, prioritising tasks, assertiveness, that will enable students to meet changing circumstances, whether they arise from a shift in their own sphere of employment, promotion to supervisory or management roles, or from general changes in business practices and the business environment.

The areas of study cover all the key aspects of business from understanding organisation structure and culture and managing people, to finance and starting a small business. With modules on marketing, accounting and law, you'll get the skills you need to make a difference in gaining employment, and developing your opportunities when you are employed.

Facilities for students:
A range of services including libraries, student union based activities and personal support, opportunities to develop your skills to study, support for placements.

Higher Education Student Social and Study space, with individual and group workstations, large display screens iPads and kitchen facilities.

The course is delivered by a team of service and business management academics and professionals. All staff able to apply that real-time knowledge to every part of the course and so make it relevant and current. You will be assigned a personal tutor who will help guide you successfully through your time at City College.

Assessment: Students are assessed through a mix of methods including, group work, presentations, case studies, essays and exams.

Individual offers may vary, but the following show the variety of ways you can gain entry to the course:
UCAS tariff: 64 points, to include at least one 12-unit qualification.

Progression and links:
All higher education courses at City College Brighton and Hove focus on improving the employment prospects of graduates. Curriculum content is designed to cover the knowledge and skills that employers are looking for. Learning and teaching strategies reflect the workplace, and students are prepared for employment through various methods including work placements, assessment tasks that mirror industry and career and personal development planning. Many of our teaching staff have industry backgrounds and maintain freelance careers.

Recent graduates are now working in a range of industries from BMW to the local council. This course can prepare you for a range of opportunities in the business world. You may also be able to progress to a full business degree programme.

Work experience opportunities:
The course includes a period when students are supported in gaining work experience and be able to link their learning to real work practices.

Tuition fees:
Most students will be eligible for a loan from Student Finance England to cover fee costs, so most students are not expected to pay tuition fees upfront. The fees for 2017/18 are 7750 for a Home/EU student and 9250 for an International student.
