Course aims:
The Foundation Degree (FdA) in Digital Media Design will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a professional in the creative digital design industries.
On this course you will gain technical skills using industry standard software and hardware, gain an awareness of contextual practices and debates, and learn the principles of effective visual and aural communication using digital media.
You will also develop professional and transferable skills including research methods, concept development, problem solving, independent decision making, working as part of a team and time management to become effective team workers and creative designers / developers.
The flexible programme encourages students to develop specialism and interests, and fosters professional attitudes and practice through studio-based and work-related learning.
Whether you have an interest in design for screen and print that utilises the latest digital tools incorporating sound, image, type and moving image in a wide range of contexts from web and interactive design through to illustration, film-making, animation and i-dents for TV, this course offers an exciting and dynamic range of skill development that covers both the creative and technical aspects of digital media design.

Assessment: Assessment is through practical projects as well as written projects.
Entry Requirements:
You need to have a strong interest in the digital arts and/or multimedia practices.
A minimum of 160 UCAS points that might be gained through GCEs, BTEC Awards, Certificates, Diplomas and/or equivalent Art and Design qualifications. Level 2 qualification in English or Communication. Completion of a Foundation Studies in Art and Design course is highly desirable. Proof of a basic level of computing skills is essential. Design and drawing skills and an awareness for contextual practices are also desirable.
