Painting & Decorating Apprenticeships in Brighton


If you are interested in becoming a Painter and Decorator, then a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating may be just the course for you.

Qualification: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations (Construction)

Duration: 2 years

Start Date: September and January

Course Content: You will learn, develop and practice the skills required to provide general maintenance tasks which will include:

  • Preparing surfaces for painting and decorating in the workplace
  • Applying paint systems by brush and roller in the workplace
  • Erecting and dismantling access/working platforms in the workplace
  • Conforming to general health and safety in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
  • Hanging standard paper/wallcoverings in the workplace
  • Applying coatings by air/airless spray methods in the workplace

Assessment: Assessment will be through a range of assessment techniques including workplace observations, on-line tests and the production of a portfolio of workplace evidence and knowledge.

Progression: Following successful completion of the Apprenticeship you may want to further develop your skills by enrolling onto a Level 3 qualification.

Entry Requirements: To do this course you are required to have one of the following 5 GCSEs grade A – E to include English and Maths or an equivalent level 1 qualification in the same vocational subject. If you meet the criteria you will be invited to interview with one of the Construction tutors.
