Course aims:
The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is the original professional body for accounting support staff.

This course aims to provide a solid introduction to accountancy for you to progress into this field of work. It aims to develop skills in book-keeping and management accounting and to provide the opportunity to gain a widely recognised accounting qualification, improving your effectiveness in the workplace and providing opportunities for career advancement.

Facilities for students:
Students are encouraged to make full use of the college’s excellent Library and refectory facilities and to make use of the virtual learning environment which can be accessed on-line.

Tutors:
This Level 2 course is taught by a dedicated team of lecturers who are also professional accountants with substantial experience of successfully delivering AAT courses.

Assessment: The AAT units are assessed by a combination of formal exams, skills tests and project work some of which may be completed on computer.

Entry Requirements:
Students joining the Level 2 certificate course are not required to have any previous experience of book-keeping or accounting. However, an aptitude for working with numbers is an advantage.

Successful students way wish to consider progression to the AAT level 3 Diploma course at City College.

There is a high demand for competent accounting professionals within a wide range of business and non-profit making organisations at all levels, both full-time and part-time as well as opportunities to become self-employed providing accounting services. An AAT qualification gives an advantage when seeking a new position.

Work experience opportunities:
No provision is made for providing work experience while on this course. However, some opportunities for this may arise.

Home/EU students tuition fees (per year): 1: £0 2: £410 3: £810

The cost of these courses are split into 3 categories. Category 1: If you are aged between 19-23 years and are studying at the level of your chosen course for the first time. This applies to Level 1, 2 and 3 courses. If this is your first level 3 course, the upper age limit is 24. Category 2: If you are in receipt of a 'work- related' benefit such as Job Seekers Allowance, or that you can self-certify (sign a form) that you are actively seeking work. Category 3: if you do not sit within Categories 1 or 2, this will be the cost you will need to pay for your course.


Further information: AAT registration, exam and assessment costs are included in the course fee however it will be necessary to charge for any resits which are required.
