Course aims:
The massage and holistic industries are a very rewarding area to work in as you are dedicated to enhancing how others feel. To be truly effective in this industry though, you must have an in depth knowledge of how the human body works, from the skeletal to the nervous system.

This Anatomy and Physiology course provides you with that knowledge, through hands on’ classes and lectures you’ll build an understanding of the body’s working systems and how to apply what you’ve learnt when administering treatments.

If you’re looking to develop your skills in the holistic therapy industry or want to move onto higher education in this field, this course will provide you with the knowledge to continue your progression

Course content:
This course will teach you about

You will learn in a number of different ways including: lectures, individual project work, group work and discussion.

Facilities for students:
The college has excellent facilities for both theory and practical work.
These include 3 large well-equipped and recently modernised Beauty/Holistic salons and a large reception area that serves both Hair and Beauty.
We also use various 3 dimensional Models (not of real human origin!) in our Anatomy classes – these include Skeletons, Muscle men, Torsos and various body parts/

Tutors:
The Beauty and Holistic Department is managed by Georgia Christoforou, a highly skilled Beauty and Holistic Therapist and an enthusiastic and experienced teacher.
The Beauty and Holistic team is staffed by highly motivated tutors that are passionate about their subjects and have excellent links with employers.

Assessment: To achieve the qualification you will produce portfolios containing evidence of successfully completed assignments and activities. You will also be assessed by end of topic tests and an end of course written test. This course includes an externally set multiple choice examination paper.

Awarding Body: VTCT

Entry Requirements:
There are no academic qualifications required to join this course, although candidates must have a good standard of written English.

Candidates also need be able to give enough time to the course at home, as home study is essential.

Please note that this is a professional qualification which requires full commitment to attendance and achievement..

Progression and links:
You may wish to continue your studies in the following therapies which are also offered as part time courses: Body Massage, Reflexology or Indian Head Massage. An increasing number of universities recognise the VTCT Level 3 Diploma as being equivalent to an A-Level in a Science subject, making it a valuable qualification for students whose aim is to progress on to certain courses in higher education.
However, you should contact the University where you wish to study to check their entry requirements.

Home/EU students tuition fees (per year): 1: £0 2: £130 3: £430

The cost of these courses are split into 3 categories. Category 1: If you are aged between 19-23 years and are studying at the level of your chosen course for the first time. This applies to Level 1, 2 and 3 courses. If this is your first level 3 course, the upper age limit is 24. Category 2: If you are in receipt of a 'work- related' benefit such as Job Seekers Allowance, or that you can self-certify (sign a form) that you are actively seeking work. Category 3: if you do not sit within Categories 1 or 2, this will be the cost you will need to pay for your course.
