Course aims:
Aromatherapy is a fascinating subject to study, it allows you to work closely with other people and to bring them relaxation and relief. On this aromatherapy course you’ll develop the skills needed to professionally administer treatments to friends or clients by learning the key principles behind this popular holistic treatment.
Some of the skills you’ll learn are the blending of essential and carrier oils and a range of massage techniques.
By completing this course you’ll have developed the techniques needed to look for work in a range of areas including health clubs, spas, salons, cruise liners, hotels or in a self-employed capacity at home or overseas.
You may also wish to continue study at City College in areas such as Advanced Massage, Reflexology or Indian Head Massage, which are also offered as part-time courses.
Course content:
The course includes units on:
A variety of teaching and learning methods are used including lecture, demonstration, individual project work, group work and discussion.
Facilities for students:
The college has excellent facilities for both theory and practical work.
These include: 3 large well-equipped and recently modernised Beauty/Holistic salons and a large reception area that serves both Hair and Beauty.
Other facilities include a modern Refectory, well equipped Library, Computer & internet facilities
Tutors:
The Holistic team is staffed by highly motivated tutors that are passionate about their subjects and have excellent links with employers.
Assessment: You will be assessed by multiple-choice exams set by the awarding body (Health & Safety/Anatomy & Physiology) and a task based scenario exam (Provide Aromatherapy).
Throughout the course you will be continually assessed on your practical skills which will be supported by assessments, assignments, case studies and activities to compile your portfolio.
Any written assignments and projects must be presented as a word-processed document.

Entry Requirements:
You will require the Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology and Level 3 Swedish Massage (VTCT or equivalent).
