Course aims:
By taking our complementary & holistic therapies you’ll develop a range of skills that will allow you to relax, de-stress and treat friends, family or paying customers.
You’ll learn to professionally administer therapies including Body Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology as well as learning about how to treat the body properly through modules on areas such as Anatomy, Physiology and Healthy Eating.
This course will provide you with the skills needed to work within holistic therapy practices, at home or overseas such as leisure centres, health clubs, spas, salons, cruise liners, hotels or in a self-employed capacity.
You may also wish to continue study in associated therapies such as Sports Massage, Advanced Aromatherapy, & Indian Head Massage, which are also offered as part-time courses.
Course content:
The course consists of the following units:
- Health Safety & Hygiene for Complementary Therapies
- Principles and Practice of Complementary Therapies
- Body Massage
- Aromatherapy
- Reflexology
- Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology for Complementary Therapies
- Introduction to Healthy Eating and Well Being
- Introduction to Clinic Services & Business Awareness
- Assessment of clients for Holistic Treatments
A variety of teaching and learning methods are used including lecture, demonstration, individual project work group work and discussion.
Facilities for students:
The college has excellent facilities for both theory and practical work.
These include 3 large well-equipped and recently modernised Beauty/Holistic salons and a large reception area that serves both Hair and Beauty.
Tutors:
The Beauty and Holistic Department is managed by Georgia Christoforou, a highly skilled Beauty and Holistic Therapist and an enthusiastic and experienced teacher.
The Beauty and Holistic team is staffed by highly motivated tutors that are passionate about their subjects and have excellent links with employers.
Assessment: Written Assignments, Written and Practical Assessments, Case Studies Portfolios & Research work, external written examinations.
Awarding Body: VTCT
Interview for entry: Interview required
Progression and links:
Various other PT Holistic courses such as Advanced/Sports Massage, Advanced Aromatherapy & Indian Head Massage.
This qualification enables the therapist to work in industry as a therapist, a manager or clinic owner.
