Course aims:
The Strata – IT Technology certificate is ideal for individuals and students new to the IT job market as well as the increasing number of professionals changing careers to IT or technology-related fields.

The course covers a range of IT skills including the basics of setting up a PC workstation, installing software and recognising/preventing security threats.

You’ll also learn about PC hardware, how to identify basic compatibility issues and operational problems and also develop a knowledge of safety guidelines and maintenance of computers.

Many entering an IT career will continue to pursue higher certifications such as CompTIA A+, or Microsoft Desktop Support Technician.

Course content:

Facilities for students:
You will learn in a well equipped workshop using networked Windows PCs. You will be able to interact with our Web Based learning tool (Moodle) and have access to an Internet accessible storage.

Tutors:
The lead tutor for this course holds an advanced Microsoft qualification and has many years experience delivering practical system support and networking up to university degree level.

Assessment: On-line adaptive test at approved testing centre to be arranged by the student.
